Protect Your Mind

Wordle: mindset

Walking around, you can just feel the tension in the air. Anger, hate, frustration, despair, depression --- the air is thick with UGH! If we are not careful, we can catch an attitude just walking down the street just from the atmosphere.

So, the question is, what do we do to protect ourselves from the "ugly". While, I wish I had the answer and solution to this question, I don't. If only there was some anagram of analysis that I could share...but unfortunately, I don't have it.  It' going to be different for each one of us.

Whatever you are facing, whatever is creeping into your spirit, whatever is swirling around your do not have to accept it into your world. When the news, our families and social media threaten to vex our spirit and rob of us peace and joy, the way the Grinch Stole Christmas,   we must go into combat mode.

The battlefield is our mind and we must be careful to protect it AT ALL COST!! Our minds are very vulnerable and constantly under attack. If we are not careful, we can be overwhelmed with the things that really come to mean us no good. During this especially difficult time in history and season of the year, we have to do a little extra to keep our minds.

A friend of mine on facebook posts a message every day that says "GETTING MY THOUGHT GAME STRAIGHT!", followed by an affirming message or phrase. Another, declares a song and motivational theme for the week, which he repeats when things get tough or challenging. Whatever it is that you have to do, I implore proactive about protecting your mind. Do not allow yourself to be tricked. If you feel yourself slipping, reach out. Don't let negative, in whatever form it takes, win. Good still is still possible...and personal peace can still be yours.

NOTE: my fellow YES WE RISE bloggers have written extensively about the mind as it relates to depression, you can use our search engine on this page to read more or you can copy and paste: depression into google.

Peace, Joy & Love,
Michelle H.
